Genesee Toastmasters reaches 40 years of shaping lives
Celebration will be held to mark the club’s anniversary on May 4
FLINT, MICHIGAN, April 8, 2024—Genesee Toastmasters, marked its 40th anniversary on April 1.

In honor of the occasion, a reunion and meeting will be held on May 4 at Ruggero’s Restaurant from 12 noon – 2 PM. Members of the public, ages 18 and older, are invited to learn more about Toastmasters or may attend the event by emailing

Tickets for the event are $15 and may be purchased from any member of the club or via the club’s event site

Guest speakers will include

  • Gerri Lajewski, Development Director of Catholic Charities of Shiawassee and Genesee Counties
  • Olivia Nagel, Development Director for Whaley Children’s Center
  • Dr. Paul Artale, motivational speaker, comedian, and leadership trainer

Since 1984, the club has been dedicated to helping people become better speakers and leaders.
“Genesee Toastmasters provides a supportive and positive environment where members have the opportunity to overcome their fear of public speaking and sharpen presentation skills,” says Anita Davis, club president.  “Other benefits include the opportunity to increase one’s confidence, build critical thinking skills and become an effective listener,” says Davis.
Some of the club’s members have used their newly acquired skills to prepare for job interviews, enhance wedding toasts, bolster presentations, deliver eulogies, and offer constructive evaluations.
Chartered with 22 members in 1984, Genesee Toastmasters was formerly known as Eastern Region Toastmasters, Electrically Speaking, Valley Area, and in 2000 became the HealthPlus Toastmasters Club.
