  • Happy New Year!
  • District Report from DD Laura St. Louis
  • January Officer Training
  • Leaders Needed for Conference Chairs

There are so many good quotes about New Years. Carl Bard said “although no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.” C.S. Lewis said “there are better things ahead than we leave behind.”

The goals of District 62 this year are as follows: create a better and more engaging learning environment, be in person more frequently and grow 15 new clubs (one in each area). Since we are halfway through the Toastmaster year, let’s take a look to see how things are going.

We are having more engaging training sessions at our Club Officer Trainings (AKA TLI). We have received excellent feedback about training and the level of engagement for each session.

We are holding Train the Trainer sessions to teach people the proper way to interact with an audience. We are holding more in person District Executive Committee meetings and have attempted to hold more COTs in person. The Spring Conference and District level contests will once again be a hybrid event.

We have opened two new clubs and have about six in the works that are showing great possibility to form before the end of this Toastmaster year. Don’t get me wrong, the first two goals are important, but not as important as growing our District. I’m happy with how things are going, but we need to do more. We need leads for potential Corporate Clubs across our District. Do you work at a place that has 250 employees or more? If so, reach out to Kim Lynn at cgd@62toast.com and get her the name and contact info for your CEO, HR Manager, or Training Manager. Together we will achieve greatness.

Happy New Year and remember, United We Succeed!
