THE TRIO: Club Growth Director, Kim Lynn, District Director Laura St. Louis, Program Quality Director John Cameron

As the end of my year as District Director for the 2023-2024 Toastmaster year comes to an end, I want to tell every one of you how much it meant to me that you placed your trust in me a second time. I will be honest; we did not accomplish all we set out to do this year, however, we have still had great successes!

We chartered two new clubs and have developed a pipeline for the coming year that we expect will continue through the year. We held 10 Club Officer Trainings, a multitude of contests and a phenomenal Spring Conference, “Where Leadership Takes Flight” at the Air Zoo in Kalamazoo. The clubs completed many levels and some earned Distinguished or higher status.

Like most Districts, membership has been our biggest obstacle, but it can be overcome if we continue to work the education program and talk to people about what we have learned. The success of our clubs depends on the membership.

Just because our fiscal year is coming to an end does not mean we don’t continue to work as though it will go on forever. Clubs are fluid when it comes to membership and we are always looking to find new people to join this organization.

I know you are in good hands for the coming year. The leadership for the 2024-2025 year are primed and ready to provide you with excellent trainings, encouragement, support, and fun times.

Just because my time as District Director is over, doesn’t mean I won’t be around. You will probably see me helping out at Club Officer Trainings or contests. When you see me, let me know how I can help. I want to continue serving you even outside of a leadership role.

Thank you again for letting me serve you as District Director. It has been an honor and privilege.

I joined Toastmasters in February, 2016 because I wanted to learn how to feel comfortable speaking in public and talking about my new art business called ArtistEntrepreneurs.org. Since then I have given speeches to large and small groups, recorded webinars for online distribution and held workshops for artists who are interested in learning what I know about the "business of art." Toastmasters has helped me to become comfortable in any environment and to take on leadership positions with success. I had no idea how far Toastmasters would take me and was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to learn and grow with the encouragment of fellow professionals. For the Toastmaster year of 2019-2020, I was awarded Toastmaster of the Year after taking on many leadership roles at the district level.
