SELECT YOUR PROXY!
A word from District Director STEFAN JENSSEN, DTM to Club Officers:
Thank you for your leadership! Recently, you received an email from World Headquarters regarding the proxy voting at the Annual Convention. Only the Club President and/or Secretary needs to take action: Club proxies must be assigned to someone by August 12th, 11:59pm CDT. I would like your help to complete this task today.
A proxy is a member legally authorized to act on behalf of another member. We use the proxy system at Toastmasters International so the District Director or other members who are attending the International Convention in person can cast votes that represent all of the clubs in each district.
Your club (the President or Secretary) can designate an individual member in any of the following three categories as proxyholder:
- An active member from the club
- The 2022-2023 District Director * I encourage most clubs to select this alternative
- Another active Toastmasters member
I suggest that the proxy be uninstructed, meaning that you do not specify how the proxy-holder should vote, unless you have significant knowledge on the candidates or proposals. Our Trio is doing the research, interviews, and additional meetings to make an educated decision on how to vote.
Directions on how to assign the proxy can be found below.
- Log in to www.toastmasters.org with your member ID/email and password.
- Click on your name at the top of the page and select “Profile” from the drop-down menu.
- In “Profile,” click on the Annual Business Meeting button.
- Once you are in the Annual Business Meeting gateway, click on “Club Proxy & Voting Instructions.”
- If you are an officer in multiple clubs, select the club for which you are reassigning the proxy.
- Click on the Edit button next to “Designate Proxyholder” to start the reassignment process.
- Click on the Edit button under “Proxyholder.”
- Select one of the three categories for the new proxyholder and input the required information.
- Click “Save.”
- To submit your updated proxyholder designation, enter your name into the Signature box, click the checkbox, and press “Confirm proxyholder.”
